Schon gewusst? MySpace ist sowas von 2006, als Musiker ist man jetzt auf imeem! Ich lande in letzter Zeit vermehrt auf imeem-Seiten von Musikern. imeem sieht besser aus als MySpace, lässt sich offenbar auch besser anpassen und ist flexibler in der Verwaltung des eigenen Contents. Vermute ich jetzt mal nach allem was man so hört, ausprobiert habe ich es selbst noch nicht. Genug der Vorrede, denn eigentlich geht es um den Producer RJD2, dessen neues Album The Third Hand Anfang März erscheint.

RJD2 bietet auf seiner imeem-Seite alle 134 einzelnen Sounds seines forthcoming Tracks "Sweet Piece" als .wav- und .snd-Dateien zum "Pre-Mixen" an.

i thought it would be informative to producers to be able to work with a group of sounds WITHOUT the preconceived notion of them coming from a song they already know, but then be able to hear the song AFTER they got to mess with it. at some point, were all just gonna be dirt in the ground, so if somebody can get something out of some info youre sitting on, why hoard it? [...] when the record comes out, you can see how it got put together and where it came from. who knows; maybe all these versions are gonna sound the same. maybe not. i hope not.

Das Schöne für alle Beteiligten ist, dass die fertigen Remixe direkt zu imeem hochgeladen und dort angehört, getaggt und bewertet werden können. Hatten wir das schonmal in einer solchen Unmittelbarkeit? [via]
