Hip Hop hat sich schon oft politisch verstanden. Letztes Beispiel ist der US-amerikanische Professor Cornel West, der schon früher Spoken Word-Platten aufgenommen und sogar in der Matrix-Trilogie mitgespielt hat. Ende letzten Jahres scharte er eine illustre Rapper-Schar um sich und nahm die Scheibe Never Forget: A Journey Of Revelations auf, um Barack Obama im Wahlkampf zu unterstützen und junge Wähler für Politik zu interessieren und zum Wählen zu ermuntern. Das Lineup liest sich wie ein Who Is Who des conscious hip hop: Talib Kweli, Black Thought, KRS-One, Andre 3000, daneben auch Jill Scott und Prince. Große Namen also, die den "Rap-Professor" bei seiner Mission unterstützen. Ob's etwas gebracht hat, wird sich bald herausstellen. Übrigens: In Deutschland kann ich mir so etwas überhaupt gar nicht vorstellen. [via SpOn]
